WELCOME TO SARANG PALOH HERITAGE STAY & EVENT HALL
A home away from home to rest and rejuvenate. Bask in the long history of the building we are housed in and discover the rich culture of Ipoh Old Town, all within walking distance of our humble abode.
Sarang Paloh is a heritage stay and event hall housed in the iconic OVERSEA BUILDING and YICK WOH Building, Ipoh. We take pride in being the result of a heritage restoration project in the heart of Ipoh Old Town.
Our name is a tribute to the history of Ipoh. "Sarang" is the word for nest in Bahasa Malaysia – a symbol for a place of rest. Ipoh was fondly remembered as "Paloh" – a token to the dams that were constructed along the Kinta River for fishing purposes.
Come and experience its glorious history dating back the 1930, timber flooring and beautiful high celing by spending a few nights at our nests or by holding an event at our beautiful hall.
This room is called the Red Throated Sunbird room. Its name is inspired by a resident bird from the Perak aviary base. Facing the historic Hugh Low Street with a tall window, this spacious loft is sized at 260 sq ft with a few cozy reading nooks on the mezzanine floor.
This room is called the Great Tit room. Its name is inspired by a resident bird from the Perak aviary base. Facing the garden, this room is sized at 250 sq ft. This room is called the Green Magpie room. Its name is inspired by a resident bird from the Perak aviary base. Facing our tranquil water garden, this room is sized at 250 sq ft. The magpie illustration in Sarang Paloh refers specifically to the Green Magpie (Cissa chinensis), commonly found in the lower Himalayas down to central Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra and northwestern Borneo.
