Ipoh is the capital of the state of Perak with many record breaking history such as being the highest gross contributor of tin ores in the world and the first ever city in Malaysia to import automobiles from Europe. It is also the place to stop for many tourists to visit its neighbouring towns such as Gopeng, Kampar, Batu Gajah, Papan, Pusing and Kuala Sepetang.

Gopeng and Kampar Day Sightsee

Gopeng and Kampar are neighbouring towns about 1 hour away from Ipoh. They were established after the discovery of high tin ore reserves in the late 1800s. Following the collapse of the tin mining industry in the 1980s, these towns are much quieter and dotted with numerous abandoned mining ponds. The mining ponds in Kampar have since served the fishing industry while Gopeng is revived with its comprehensive museum and a tea plantation named Gaharu Tea Valley famed for its tea species claimed to have healing benefits.
